A little nervous and really eager to strut my stuff, I returned to Hockley Valley on Saturday. We got there in the late afternoon, and my friend had to wait over an hour to buy an evening lift ticket valid from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM. His other option was to pay for a half-day [...]

Over a year ago, a friend lent me a copy of Chuck Palahniuk’s classic debut, Fight Club. At the time, I flipped to a random page to see what his style was like. I read the page where Tyler Durden’s followers are doing serious gardening– killing insects, planting roses, fertilizing the ground, etc. This turned me [...]

One of my favorite books is David Remnick’s King of the World, a biography on Muhammad Ali. It covers Cassius Clay’s early life up until his boxing license was stripped for protesting against the draft. Additionally, there is information on the two future opponents whose lives were interwoven with his destiny—Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson.

There are a few activities that I would love to be qualified to teach: swimming, yoga, and skiing. Nothing is as rewarding as getting paid to do things you love. After the weekend, however, I realize that I probably would benefit a lot from certification courses in all of those subjects. I have been thinking of doing a [...]

I have decided to avoid logging into Facebook for a while. Everyone who has used it understands that it is a huge time drain that results in nothing really productive. It might be fun to keep tabs on people from back in the day, but otherwise, wouldn’t you have kept in touch with the people [...]

It has now been just over a year since I graduated from University. Ideally, I should be climbing the corporate ladder or pursuing the post-grad education that would dramatically increase my salary. This is what my siblings both managed to accomplish after their undergrad education was complete.
When I asked a friend of mine whether he would [...]

Even in a suburb of London, years after the song had become a hit, a few pre-teen black girls were singing Run DMC’s hit “It’s Like That” as I passed by them on my way from the train station. They giggled to each other while I juggled my bags and the lamb burger I was devouring. I [...]

“Self-actualization is the instinctual need of humans to make the most of their abilities and to strive to be the best they can.” – Taken from an explanation of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Part of me is optimistic that I can do all of the things I am meant to do. Rather than dwell on [...]

When two people have an argument, there will usually be two different recollections of what occurred. As a friend, you can listen to someone explain their side of the story. They can elicit sympathy and warmness from you—and then you can listen to the other version of events. Maybe the new information won’t turn your [...]
